Creating Students

Learn how to create Students here.

Written by Maahi Islam

To create a Student, navigate to People > Students and select Create New Student. This will open the Add Student page, where you can fill in the Student's details. You will need to specify their assigned Client at this stage.

You can alternatively add the Student from a Client's page. Go to People > Clients > select the Client and select the Add button on the Students panel. This will open the Create Student menu with some details already filled in with data from the Client's profile.

You can also add multiple Students at once using the Import function, via System > User Import or the Import button on People > Students. This lets you upload Student profiles from a spreadsheet, and updates anyone already on your system rather than duplicating them.

Note: Every Student row in an Import needs a Client Email that matches a Client already on your system, so Import your Clients before your Students. Students added by an Import are not sent a welcome email.

When you create a Student profile and input an email address, they will be sent a 'Student Welcome Email' instructing them to confirm their email address and set up a password to log in. Once that has been set up, they can log into the TutorCruncher platform via your secure URL.

Note: You will need the 'Student welcome email' Email Definition enabled for the welcome email to send. You can check this via System > Settings > Email Definitions.

Frequently Asked Questions

What if one of my Clients is also a Student?

In cases where the Client and Student are the same person, go to People > Clients > select the Client > Actions > Add as Student. This will create a Student profile with data filled in from the Client's profile data, a useful feature for cases where the person responsible for paying for your Tutor's services is also the person receiving those services, as is often the case with university Students.

The 'Add as Student' option in the Actions dropdown menu on a Client's profile.

Can I separate a combined Client and Student profile?

Yes. Go to People > Clients > select the Client > Actions > Split User to separate the profiles into separate accounts with their own logins. This option will only be visible for Clients who are also Students. The email address will stay with the user's original role, while the new role will have no email address.
