Note: Sales Codes were added to TutorCruncher for use with Xero in mind.
Sales Code groups are simply premade groups of different Sales Codes that can be applied to different Jobs/Lessons.
Sales Codes are used in conjunction with Xero to categorise items on invoices into various accounts. For instance, 325 might be the direct wages code (the account that the tutor payment comes out of), whereas 200 might be the company code (the account that that money due to the company goes into).
Even if your organisation isn’t using Xero as part of your accounting package, Sales Codes can still be used to categorise Lessons and Ad Hoc Charges, and can be viewed when using a detailed accounting export.
Sales Codes are composed of three elements - the company code (the account that money due to the company goes into), the affiliate code (the account that money due to Affiliates comes out of, as a cost of sale) and the direct wages code (the account that tutors are paid from).
New Sales Code groups can be created via System > Settings > Accounting Settings > Sales Code Groups. Navigating here will open the Sales Codes page, which contains a list of your different Sales Code groups. Selecting Add New Sales Codes will open the Add New Sales Codes panel, from which you can specify the Sales Codes’ description, company code, affiliate code and direct wages code.
